SONA 2023

HOUSE SEC-GEN VELASCO LEADS FIRST INTER-AGENCY SONA COORDINATION MEETING; PREPARATIONS FOR PBBM’S SECOND SONA IN FULL SWING

The Protocol Officers (POs) workshop continued Thursday with Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Special Affairs Bureau - Protocol and Special Affairs Service (IPRSAB-PSAS) staff Ms. Aleli Gamboa and Ms. Cris Angelica Acosta, as well as IPAD Travel Support Service (TSS) Director Maria Arlene Figueroa sharing with the new protocol officers (Pos) the basic arrangements, best practices, as well as the do's and dont's during important HRep events and ceremonies.
Dir. Figueroa, as a former head of PSAS, advised the POs on the importance of paying attention even to the smallest details, maintaining composure and controlling temper at all times.
Ms. Acosta encouraged the incoming POs to keep abreast of current events, practice multitasking, and anticipate needs for various scenarios. She added that it is also necessary to be conversant about the institution and other data like the number of the House Members or the percentage of female and male legislators so that the POs can engage effectively with HRep guests. Inter-Parliamentary and Public Affairs Department (IPAD) led by Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Atty. Grace Andres told the new POs that they shall exercise their new skills beyond the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 24, 2023, “We are having this program because the House will be hosting the APPF in November and the BIMP-EAGA First Parliamentary Forum early next year so we will be tapping all of you again in these very important occasions.”
DSG Andres and IPRS Director Maria Carmencita Dulay presented the resource speakers with certificates of appreciation. PSAS Director Karen Reside moderated today's workshop.
