President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed on October 10, 2022, RA 11934, or the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Act, to effectively counter the proliferation of cybercrimes in the country, including identity theft and online fraud. The Senate and House contingents
who witnessed the signing were led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri both staunch proponents of the anti-cybercrime measure. RA 11934 is the first legislative measure signed by the Marcos Jr. administration.
